Krivoklat castle
This castle built in 1109 is hidden in the middle of the mixed woodland protected by UNESCO. It was the residence of the spouse of the Emperor Charles IV that, to please her, let many nightingales collect in the local forest to sing for her. There was imprisoned the English alchemist Edward Kelley, that promised to prepare the “Elixir of Life” for the Emperor Rudolph II. A historical exposition along with late Gothic paintings and sculptures is on display inside.

This famous 14th century castle was built as a place of safekeeping of the coronation jewels of the Holy Roman Emperors, the royal treasures, the holy relics, especially the spear of Destiny. It is closed from the 2nd week of January and in February. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is possible to see after a reservation in advance from June until October.
